Why is My E-mail Showing As private appleID?
Q: Why is my email address showing as a private Apple ID email (e.g., @privaterelay.appleid.com
), and how can I change it?
On the Web:
- Visit the account settings page of the service or app where you're seeing the private email (e.g.,
https://cruiseline.com/settings/profile
for CruiseLine). - Log in to your account using your existing credentials.
- Go to the Email Address or Profile section.
- Replace the
@privaterelay.appleid.com
address with your preferred email address. - Save your changes.
On Your Apple Device:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name to open Apple ID settings.
- Go to Passwords & Security > Apps Using Apple ID.
- Select the app or service where the private email is being used.
- Toggle off Hide My Email, or select Forward To and input your real email.
Within the Shipmate Application:
If you're using an app like Shipmate, follow these steps:
- Tap Profile in the app.
- Select Edit Profile.
- Update your email address directly in the profile settings.

- Disabling the private relay feature or changing the email may share your real email address with the service.
